Holy Writ: One of the three pillars of the Church (the others being Sacred Tradition and the Holy Magesterium), the Holy Bible is the written Word of God.

Rome: The Pope and the Curia.

General Councils: General (or Ecumenical) Councils are those to which the bishops, and others entitled to vote, are convoked from the whole world (oikoumene) under the presidency of the pope or his legates, and the decrees of which, having received papal confirmation, bind all Christians.

Regional, Local and Metropolitan Councils and Synods & Episcopal Conferences: While not infallible nor binding on all Christians like General Councils, lesser Councils can be of extreme importance to the whole Church (e.g.: Toledo) or to a large area of the Church (e.g.: Baltimore III).

Local Churches: A local Church (e.g.: Diocese, Eparchy, etc.) is the faithful within a certain territory that owe obedience to a Bishop.

Religious Orders & Priestly Societies: Religious Orders and Hermits have been part of the Church from the beginning. Fraternities or Societies of Priests are of a somewhat more recent vintage. Religious Superiors, up until modern times, could also be rulers of vast areas, and have great responsibilities for the souls living within their boundaries. Documents issued by the superiors of these Orders and Societies, as well as documents written by ordinary members (which can also be found under the heading "Individuals") are listed here.

Catholic Organizations: Catholic Organizations and confraternities, open to Priests and laity, have been a part of the Church for some time, but they have blossomed in number and membership since the late Nineteenth Century. Both documents issued by the leaders of these organizations, as well as documents written by ordinary members (which can also be found under the heading "Individuals) are listed here.

Individuals: Catholics from the Fathers and Doctors to the lowliest sinner are listed here.
